Marie Lukic’s Occasional Poetry Blog

In Occasional Poetry, I may include my spontaneous eruptions of poetry. They range from capturing everyday amusements to inspired poetry — from down to earth, sharply observational to quasi mystical realm poetry. I have written a collection of poetry Heaven’s Station with the Angels of the Gold Door, based mostly on growing up and history, but this Occasional Poetry Blog is to be great fun.

Personally, I have discovered poetry sometimes occurs to me when everything is in order, so is the icing on the cake of my literature or conundrums. The poem below, however, is the opposite, for it playfully captures a type of computer generated chaos.  So I sometimes write to capture a unique moment. My poetry may also be witty, amusing and accessible.

One of my students read this out in class and loved it, so I have decided to include it in my Occasional Poetry Blog. I am the poet, of course. Feel free to respond and add your own poetry, hopefully inspired and elegant, free from the constraints of slang.

Cacophany

The ringing din

Upsets equilibrium

A platter of sounds

Knocks eardrums around

The bells toll and tinkle

The computer groans and farts

Domph domph bangs the speaker

The computer groans the part

Interruptions galore

Grow louder and snore

The fanfare trumpets

A chimp prances about

The cash register clatters

As my students natter

Music and bombs

Mix in a cacophony of song
