Galaxy Trotters

‘Galaxy Trotters’ , described as ‘a great book’  8.4/10 by UK Fantasy Book Review is a space adventure. Dr Sallie Muirden (PhD Creative Writing) poet, author of Woman of Seville and winner of the Harper Collins Fiction Prize also praises the children’s novel highly.

‘Beautifully written, a magical children’s fantasy story that will enthrall both boys and girls.’

The  Galley came out in 2009, and in 2010 the polished novel was launched at Readings, Carlton. Marie Lukic began writing this novel in 1987-1991 and rewrote it during her Professional Writing & Editing Diploma. In 2022, just now, Marie discovered Galaxy Trotters on the unofficial Ditmar list for science fiction novels of 2010. How exciting! I guess someone was supposed to provide information to support nomination, but it’s cute that it made it onto a list at all! It did not win though.

This novel is based on Marie Lukic’s fictionalisation of research, so is currently topical and relevant. Dr Gary  Allen Jnr former Nasa engineer provided information in a letter, so Marie researched and fictionalised aspects after reading Hawking and Mars texts etc. Because Marie fictionalised the research, it is different from normal research, but the novel is still not only humorous and adventurous, it is also educational.
