Christmas Eve 2025
Hello to all my readers,
It is Christmas Eve and in many ways, sadder than most, with the passing of loved ones whom may no longer grace us with their presence. I have spent a few hours navigating examples of Christmas art, so a big thank you goes to the unimaginably talented water colour artists. What strikes me is their knack for proportion. Is there an unsaid rule that a Christmas gnome has to be this size against a Christmas tree? I understand there is skill in proportion. When I draw freely, I am unable to discover a proportion that appeals to the eye unless I am copying an object or view.
In fact I was not going to include any of my clumsy attempts to emulate these talented artists, but as I organised the gifts to place under our tree, a strange event occurred. I cut the wreath cards I had painted into circles and placed them on top of the powder puff containers I had purchased at the local pharmacy. At last I had broken through and discovered something original, a unique matching of the gift shape. Next, the hairpins had to be colour coordinated for the child who adores pink, much to my apprehension about gender association with colour. Were it not for this breakthrough, I would not dare show my gifts, but here they are. I baked a traditional Christmas cake and the ham has been prepared and baked by my husband. The turkey rolls will be baked tomorrow morning alongside the spuds in the oven. Note: I cannot access any email on my website at present, much to my disappointment. Improving my email access is a goal for 2026.
Wishing everyone peace during Christmas.
