During the past weeks, I have not only been developing my website, but also refining my Kingdom of Nerada children’s novel, Isabella Airyfairyabelous & the Sleepy Dragon. I am hoping I will soon present a dramatically developed and invigorating novel for children. The main challenge has been restructuring. A friend read the novel and made a few suggestions, so I am attempting to apply these.
In this novel, we have two main settings the mirror kingdom, a sunken sea kingdom where Triton, his daughter Princess Neriad, the Neriad mermaids and the dragons reside. In contrast, the surface kingdom of Nerada consists of King Ping’s kingdom where Isabella Airyfairyabelous, a dragon hunter, and Queen Maryanne live with him in the castle. Adjacent to the surface kingdom is the wonderful Emerald Forest where many adventures occur.
Linking the two kingdoms has been very challenging and enjoyable. Writers learn all the time as they restructure and develop their texts for readers, with the goal of injecting life into their created worlds. My children’s books are humorous and contain the mermaid-munching-meanasauruses, the dragons’ enemy. As you can see, these texts may be an enjoyable way to assist young readers to access entertaining fantasy and develop language mastery.
I will let you all know when I complete my revised novel.
